Kodo app — last updated: September 27, 2026
In short: Kodo shows no ads, contains no trackers and sells no data. The app requires an account, with your email address and nothing else. Your progress is saved on your phone, and copied to our servers so you can find it again if you change devices.
1. Who is responsible for this data
Palagniouk Dimitri, publisher of the Kodo app. For any question about your data: contact@kodolearn.com.
2. What the app stores
Kodo does not ask for your name, your age or your phone number. The username shown on your profile is the one you choose, and it can be anything.
| Data | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Progress: completed lessons, crowns, unlocked units | Knowing where you are and what to offer you next |
| Questions you got wrong | Offering them again until you get them right |
| XP, gems, hearts, day streak, daily goal | Running progression and rewards |
| Daily XP history (last 7 days shown) | The chart on your profile |
| Gem purchases: avatars, streak freezes | Giving you back what you bought |
| Settings: username, username style, avatar, sound, animations, course followed | Keeping the app the way you set it |
| Real-money purchases: product bought, date, Google Play receipt identifier, subscription expiry date | Checking the payment with Google, giving you what you bought, and knowing how long your subscription runs |
Gems are an in-app currency earned by playing, which can also be bought. Purchases (gem packs, Kodo Pro subscription) go exclusively through Google Play. Google takes the payment: we never receive your card or any payment data. We only receive a receipt identifier, which we present to Google to check that the purchase is genuine before crediting you.
3. What other players see
In the league, players in your group see your username and its style, your avatar, your XP for the week, and any ring around your avatar — which shows an active Kodo Pro subscription or a streak milestone (7, 30 or 100 days). Nothing else: not your email address, not your detailed progress, not your purchases.
4. Where this data is stored
On your phone: the reference save lives in the device's local storage
(localStorage). That is what the app reads and writes, including offline. If you
uninstall the app, that copy disappears.
On our servers: the same save is copied to our servers, hosted by Supabase (region Europe — Frankfurt, Germany). Your data therefore stays in the European Union: it is not transferred to any third country. This is what lets you find your progress on another phone or after reinstalling. Each account can only read and change its own data, a rule enforced by the database itself.
5. Signing in with Google
An account is required to use Kodo. You can create it with Google, or with your email address and a code sent to you — in both cases, the only personal data we receive is your email address, along with a technical account identifier. Nothing else: not your contacts, not your other apps, not your calendar. The email is only used to link your save to you.
6. Third parties that receive something
- Supabase — hosting of the save, of sign-in and of the website waitlist.
- Google — if you choose to sign in with Google rather than by email.
- Google Play — if you make a purchase: Google Play processes the payment, and we present the receipt identifier to it for verification.
Fonts are bundled with the app: they are not downloaded from Google, so no request goes to its servers to display them.
There is no other third party: no ad network, no analytics, no social network, no tracker.
7. How long
Local data stays until you use “Start over” in your profile, or uninstall the app. Account data is kept as long as the account exists, and deleted when you delete it.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can ask to access your data, correct it, erase it, or receive an exportable copy. Two ways to do it:
- Yourself, right away: “Delete my account”, in the Profile tab, erases the account and its entire save from our servers, purchase history included. “Start over” only erases local progress.
- By email: write to the address in section 1 if you no longer have access to the app. We reply within 30 days.
You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country (in France, the CNIL) if an answer does not satisfy you.
9. The website waitlist
On kodolearn.com, you can leave your email address to be told when the app launches. Here is exactly what happens:
- What we keep: your email address, the language of the page where you signed up, and the sign-up date. Nothing else — no IP address, no tracker.
- What we do with it: send you one single email, on the day the app launches. No newsletter, no reminders, and your address is neither sold nor shared.
- How long: the list is deleted once that email is sent.
- Where: at Supabase, in the same database as the app, in Europe (Frankfurt). The website can only add an address: it has no way to read the list.
- Removing yourself earlier: write to the address in section 1, and we delete your address within 30 days — in practice, right away.
10. Children
Kodo teaches programming to beginners, including young ones. The app is not intended for children under 13, and an account is required to use it. If you are under 15, ask a parent for permission before creating an account. If you are a parent and want an account deleted, write to us: we delete it within 30 days.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page is updated. Any significant change will be announced in the app.
